We drove out of a unique, special world and onto highways, which would be our home for the next two days. Though our image of Nevada essentially consisted of desert, looking at the map and talking to people as we stopped, there’s so much more off of I-80 then I thought there would be. Things like Ruby Lake, Spring Creek, the Jackson Mountains, and the Humbolt State Wildlife Preserve.
But, ummm, we didn’t stop at any of them. We focused instead on just getting to California and escaping the torture that is Nevada’s scorching summer, so this is all that we saw.
We were expecting flat, hot desert, though, and the drive was much more scenic, beautiful, and mountainous than expected, which was a pleasant surprise.
