Down from the Tonto National Forest we came for a couple of days in Phoenix. We didn’t do much aside from see friends and go out to dinner with an ex-coworker, which I’m not going to post about. We did one thing that I’ve always wanted to do here, though.
I haven’t always wanted to go on a teacher strike. Our Airbnb was very close to the capitol and we arrived during the 2018 teacher strikes, as Arizona teachers demanded better pay and smaller classrooms. In my opinion, the US is horrible about teacher pay and education funding in general, but Arizona is one of the worst states about it. My friend here was a teacher and hearing her describe what happened to them shocked me.
Frankly, it’s stupid and terribly damaging the the future.
Lost in the Dance
The thing I always wanted to do, however, was visit an art exhibit called You Who Are Getting Obliterated in the Dancing Swarm of Fireflies and it was on display at the Phoenix Museum of art. We had to go and it was absolutely worth it.
By the bye, the Phoenix Museum of Art is awesome.
